I have ever witnessed. The death toll reached 26, and over 600 homes were either destroyed or heavily damaged. You could actually see the path when you walked around the neighborhood. We suffered roof damage and were without power, but our house was okay. It was bad. A volunteer who came in said he had just been helping after Katrina. He said the damage here was just aas bad, but we didn't have the water issue. It was odd to see apple of bricks that was once someone's home. Another house would look okay until you saw that one side of the house was gone. It was eerie.
