Plus, today, the foreman said that they may need to bring in an excavator, because of the trees down. Neither of us are sure how a big piece of equipment will fit in there anyway. There's only so much room between the house and shed, and house and trees in the woods.
But, back to today...
The crew from today arrived early, around 2 something. Apparently, they had no idea that they were to arrive at 4. I think that they were just going from job to job, and had finished the last one early. Because Ds had come over to help Dh, after working on his map, it was fine.
Then, instead of working for 1 hr., they worked for about 3 hrs.
They got the tree off of my truck, thank goodness.
Then, they cut down the tree in the driveway of the old house, as the top was splintered.
Afterwards, they took the widow maker at the bottom of this driveway, and cut it down...because both driveway trees were hazards. One was an oak, one was a Douglas fir.
Finally, we have an older truck that's been parked for a long time. When Dh's brother passed away in 1981, we got his 1949 truck. A tree had fallen over it, and several bay laurels were down by the creek which runs by the old house, over the creek, and next to AT&T phone equipment. So they cut, and bucked up, those bays.
They used a cherry picker to reach things today, and once the tree on my truck was disconnected from the main tree, the guy stood on the cage, and did some of the cutting. Thank goodness for that cage...as I believe it saved my truck from major damage.
What's left are: The window-maker up here along the driveway, the tree on the lab, the trees on what's left of the chicken coop, and the ones on the house. What a mess.
I know that the house will be last...next week, all day. but other than that, I'm not sure. The house shouldn't be put off, because one tree is hung up, so can still cause more damage. But, can Ds be here for the time that it will take to move the heavy and bulky items?
So, that was our day on Monday. Well, not completely.
I was up early, and heard a vehicle. I wondered if the tree service was confused, and came early. So, I awakened Dh, and he drove Cricket down to find out.
It turned out that it was someone going through our things down there. I would politely call him a 'scrounger.' Dh sent him on his way, but that's a problem with not being down there.
In better news, a 5th younger chicken laid an egg yesterday. They will be 8 months old this Thursday and Friday.
Also, Uhura's learned a new trick on rainy or cold days/nights. She greets us, and goes immediately to sit in front of the heater. We put a cat bed there, and she sits in it to warm up.
Have a nice day!
