Thing is this type storm has happened 10 years ago and about 10 years before that and once more before that one.
Notice was given after each disaster along with recommendations to winterize the systems.
They were ignored every year.
The people that resigned weren't even texans. Another big point against them.
Plus the power companies put out no warnings or notices that the extra charges would be passed on to their customers. Now it's their problem due to the reactions of the customers and others. $16,000.00 bills.
Plus people died. My son had 2 families - his neighbors who both have members in the hospital.
There were no warnings anywhere about any steps people should could take to protect themselves and their family members or their pets. The media fell sort as well.
San Antonio was slammed. My area is on a different system. But my neighbors weren't prepared at all.
It was just lucky I had lived in MN through a propane outage. No heat for 3 days. And way colder. Chance had the only electrical heater. Had Electricity so food was ok and a microwave. Lots of rice socks for everyone - Chance, cats, dogs & humans.
People who had neither put their food in snow banks if necessary. And moved in with family & neighbors.
I was hanging in until well pipe broke but like I said Boy came to my rescue. It may be a few days before he comes back. But I have enough with some well water from my neighbors to last till his return.
He will also be trying to find parts to fix my well. My well guy is struggling to find parts for his other customers. Many are having multiple problems.
It is still a mess for thousands of Texans.
Prayers would be appreciated for those still without heat and water. Yes temps are warm during the days but cooler temps at night and rain in a few days won't help.
Plus not everyone is found yet.
