Do you still have the cat quilt? The butterfly quilt that my grandmother made for me, was with me everywhere that I went...until we moved here. It didn't arrive with our other things.
How neat about the record player. Yes, a good song!
That's all that we ever did, too. Thyri's still a little young to understand or care about things like that, but as she gets a little older, we will be back to wearing something green, and making green food, I'm sure.
Have you heard of Calico critters? They are small critters dressed in clothes, often old fashioned, it looks like. There are cats, bunnies, sheep, hedgehogs, and a lot more.
You can buy furniture to go with them, little trains for them to ride in, etc. It's basically dollhouse furniture, and there are things like little toasters, and so forth.
They are a little expensive, so I haven't paid a lot of attention to them, but a lady that I know had a lot of pieces, and wanted to get rid of them. They were a very good price, in perfect condition, except for a couple of animals not having their clothes, so I got them for Thyri and I to play with once she gets a bit older.
It's a mix-match of pieces. There are living room pieces, including a cloth couch, kitchen pieces - with food, blenders, 2 stoves, a sink, a side board, etc. and many more. We also have a rabbit, 2 cats, 2 puppies, and 2 hedgehogs. Also, a rat, which I don't care for much, for some reason.
I will be washing the non-cloth furniture and other items tomorrow, just because, and also the critters' clothing.
Then, I am going to divide the items by type, and fill some cigar boxes that I have with them, until Thyri is old enough to play with them.
I asked Ds to make a not-too-heavy play board for us, with a little rim around the edges, so that we can move it around, and also to cut some 1/2 dowels to fit inside of it, so that we can make 'rooms.'
He loves that idea, and said that he will look for flooring that we can change out, depending on what rooms we want, or something to look like grass if outdoor play. (I forgot to mention that we got a garden, and part of a train. We may be missing a radish, but otherwise, the garden seems to be complete.)
Anyway, I just wondered if you'd seen them while on eBay, or somewhere?
