My mom was not big on flying, but did periodically fly anyway. They went to Hawaii a couple of times, etc.
And, when there, she had to fly a couple of island hoppers, which, of course, are very small.
What she didn't know, was that when they landed, the landing strip ended at a cliff. Any miscalculation in landing/stopping, and it was over the cliff.
When she saw where they ended up when they landed...literally at the edge of the cliff, she told my dad that she was done....no more flying between islands. Poor mom.
Interesting side note...she went to a professional hypnotist to fly the first time, and she did it, so it must have worked. She was not the type to take suggestion/hypnotism, so....! But, it was odd looking, because you sit with one arm up. I used to have a photo of her in the plane with a blank look on her face, and one arm up.
Anyway, I agree, hooray for trains!!
