My largest bills and expenses are on hold thanks to Soc Sec holdup to IRS.
My friends on SS but who paid taxes have their checks - Those of us who don't pay taxes and are over 70 didn't.
Hopefully tomorrow I will have the money and can pay the Well bills and order a new Well Tank.
On top of that I can then reach out to the house ins company and be reimbursed for some of the costs.
Plus I need to set up getting the missing fence section refenced. Also add some next to the gate where the current fence is low enough for Charlie to jump over. It's next to the area behind the retaining wall which is next to the driveway.. That fence is low enough for him to jump over but the driveway is triple that height on the driveway side. Thus he could get seriously injured and or runaway if a dog or dogs is by the fence. Which has been something that has been happening due to the small dog across the street. I mentioned that event once or twice. Scary.
Plus a new washer with a larger tank is needed. I am so tired of doing laundry in the hand crank. I have it to do small or tiny loads.
I finally received my bank statement so can copy pages I need and mail it off. That will be a big headache done with. This Paperwork was required in OCT now I'm doing it in March? What the hay!
Ok enough of all that. I have been enjoying all the growth. I found a BAD mushroom out back today. If it gets broken all the spores come out as mist. Then it grows everywhere.
There are some real bad mushrooms that cane grow here. I go around an pull them up with hopefully their roots.
I found 1 weed plant that has small tiny white flowers which disguise it as a wildflower. It isn't one. Instead it is a sticker plant. A real bad one that spreads super fast. It took me a few years to get rid of every one of them. It's 3 years since and to find a new one in the yard fills me with dread. A horrid job by hand. And if I miss one and mow it down that increases the possible of times it can increase.
I now have 4 or 5 Hummers. They seem to be some of the ones from last year. A few are flying up to my face. None have hovered there yet. Fingers crossed.
I am happy to announce my lizards are back. I saw some small ones in the backyard. No Ornate Tree Lizards yet either, they look like tree bark and are fairly good sized.
Nor have I seen any Green Anole - ie Chameleons. They have the pink throat fan and are so plentiful here it is joy to watch them climb and scamper and change color to a brown.
Butterflies are yellow, black, blue... not a lot yet.
The cats found a couple of Cockroaches - these are big Texas ones. YUCK.
Deer haven't been around yet either since that last sighting.
I haven't seen one of the large turtles for at least 3 years. They don't live near water.
Still no growth on some of the big bushes and trees.
Ant hills are all over the yard. Sigh!
Looks like my berry vines have gotten over to the area by the western fence. They were mostly along the northern fence. I was hoping to thin them out big time.
I have found any number of excellent fossils to add to my collection. The rains have uncovered the driveway and yard to a new depth of over an inch.
It's call erosion. I plan to contact the SA AG dept for advice on how to slow that down. Maybe have them come out and take a look. WHen at BOR the UT Ag dept came out and walked the property with me. That was the year before the drought. When I planted all my apple trees. SIGH!
There are two or three crows at least that CAW as they fly overhead when heading for SA. Of course the Red Tailed Hawk is still around but it seems to be eating here only a few times a month.
A black Vulture is still hovering overhead. Haven't seen more then the one since the Volt visited.
Lots of bird song lately and from the Cornell Ornithology APP I have lots of sightings. They improved the app so I can call back the sightings-soundings. Cool. One of the best apps I have.
Well, 86 outside now 55 tonight. 74/41 tomorrow, 76/54 Monday, a bit of rain on Tuesday... 84/55
Cloudy off and on. This morning as I walked down hill to the mailboxes - I wish I could still paint. What a beautiful sky. Gray puffs of clouds floating along the Eastern horizon while above them the sun would be peeking out off and on amid small clouds. Very beautiful. The sky was palish blue while the sunlight was golden.
I hope to mow the worst of the back yard this coming week. I needed some nature time and when it appeared I have enjoyed it and appreciated it tremendously.
I feel almost normal. Energy has flowed back not quickly but slowly. I am walking twice what I have been - so up to ten or twelve laps every day.
Also eating much better. I can't seem to gain any weight again.
Tomorrow I hope to get a smallbox off to DD with a new tee shirt from the Philippines. And a few things of artwork I want to send her. Plus a dec of cards but that may wait as I want to create her a math board for her to lay the cards on that will help her with her math.
Singing her praises re her reading skills. Wonderful how well she is doing.
Ok need to marinate my thin chicken breast. For at least 45 minutes unless I let it marinate for tomorrow's dinner. When ever will have it with Yams and peas for dinner with maybe a small salad.
I fixed a BLT for lunch. I love those but on white bread. Today I only had multigrain. Not bad. Got my fresh food yesterday. Apples, carrots not a pound each - much more normal sized.
Lots of leftover sweet Italian sausage spaghetti sauce on angle hair left over.
Now I'm hungry. LOL Have a good Sunday.
Love All Life; Thank You For Posting! :)
