We had a mostly hot week, with our first triple digit days. It's awfully early for that, but it reached 100 degrees twice, and 101 once, between Monday and Wednesday. After that, highs were in the 80's. Nights have been comfortable enough to not use the heater.
They say that next week will be cooler, maybe 70's and 80's, and that the nights will be a bit cooler, as well.
As you know, we preserved gas as best we could this week, and cooked in a limited way. But, as soon as we got some gas I did some cooking, because we had thawed a good sized piece of meat, and it had to be cooked. I also spent a bit of my time processing some vegetables, then cooking them for the freezer.
There was that problem with the delivery person, and today 2 packages were thrown out at the old house. One of ours, and one for Ds. That's not safe.
We've called every number we could get our hands on, both from the company, and other places, and basically, you can leave a message in the oursourced areas, and even have a 'case number' generated, but no one gets back to you, nor is there any longer a number for the places in America.
This is a 3rd party that UPS has something to do with. I have even called the people who sent the package. I am pretty tenacious, and usually can find ways to get in touch with the people that can get something done, but not in this case.
I did a lot of small things that needed doing this week. Not very exciting, but if it's not done, it just stays on the to-do list, so...
Two weeks ago, Ds had a job in Hopland, which is my county's southern border, and the client said that he'd had someone renting a place from him that moved. And, when he moved, he left 4 neat bags of books and audio books. Mostly modern, and in good condition. He offered them to Ds, who took them.
The books are mostly for ddil, though we did get a couple that I've begun reading, and we divided the audio books in half. Ds listens to them when he has to drive miles of back roads.
What we were thinking, is that we could listen to them also, when we are going through boxes, totes, etc. We can't read while working, nor watch T.V., so this might be a solution.
I have a CD player, and a Bose, which Ds just recently had found at the house and brought up to me.
Then, when we finish a few...which is likely to take some time, and Ds finishes some of his, we can trade. I haven't gone through them completely yet, but I saw some by people like James Patterson, and also authors that I'm not familiar with.
It was so hot and clear, at the early part of this week, that when Dh went out to do a couple of chores, he ended up quite sunburned, in a relatively short amount of time.
The deer have been coming around regularly, morning and evenings. And, one of the evenings, Uhura walked right by them.
That's when a young buck started to follow her. It was an adorable Bambi moment. He kept right up with her, and she basically ignored him.
Well, that's all from this neck of the woods. How was your week?
