I was going to throw out some cardboard boxes that are good, into the yard. Because when I set some out, it always rains on them, lol!
Than, ddil was going to wash her car, because whenever she does, it rains.
Then, we said that maybe we should throw in an Indian rain dance, for good measure! :-)
Yes, I was so glad that he could get off of the road. And, it worked out in other ways, since before it was through, their power went out. He was able to pack up the generator.
I'm glad that you weren't too far out to get back home in that lightning!
We have what we call 'dry lightning' around September some years, but it's not a big event, just dangerous. Yours sounds like it was an event.
Yes, I was sad to hear about the accidents. I suspect that there were more, as we heard sirens going north during the storm. :-(
I believe that about the pendulum. And, that is definitely how it works with droughts. I hope that things are swinging the other way with them. So many plants, animals, and people suffer during droughts.
Yes, the whole state needs rain, without lightning, and enough to help with the drought, and prevent fires this year. I've never seen anything like the past few years. We lived here 27 years before this all started, and never had anything like it happen. Now, into our 33rd summer here, I hope that there's a safe, non-destructive, turnaround in what's been happening the past 5 or so years.
What I do, is keep my rain gauge out, and at 6 P.M. each night (that it rains) I look at it, dump the gauge out, and jot the rainfall on my calendar. Then, at the end of the month, I add it together put the total at the top of that page.
It's easy to get the annual total from that, too.
