Yes, a lot of new inventions, and also the desire to add new things to homes. But, way more ceiling fans on the east coast than west coast, except the stores/markets. In the days before major AC in stores, there was always a big, black, ceiling fan when you walked in, and other areas, too, depending on the size of the store. Was that true back east, as well?
Yes, on hand fans.
We didn't have a porch, per se, but my mother remembered sleeping on theirs in the summer.
Yep, that's what I told Ds...AC not in that many cars, and you were lucky to have a lap belt.
The plastic pools were popular, and cooling.
Slip 'n Slide commercials were something that I remember from the 60's. I never used one, and my kids didn't, either, but the commercials for them stuck in my mind. 1960ish?
They could never say now what they did then: Girls slide better than boys! Whoa, wonder who thought up that to use in the commercials?
Yes, pools in motels.
Did you guys ever take a T.V. outside to watch?
Yes, my dad, too, re: records. I had no chance to be a music hater, having grown up listening to all kinds of music from records, and also seeing live music.
We only had access to limited television, also. One T.V. in the family for a long time, and under parental control. Eventually they got a new one, and the old one was put where we had access to it.
I remember even small T.V.'s being heavy enough to give someone a hernia when they moved it!
Lol! You were amazing! :-)
Yes, ice cream making.
Good memories here, too.
