This is another set of questions about what you call things. I saw it recently, and found it interesting.
Do you ever call television shows, programs?
Do you call the cake that has a crumb topping a 'coffe cake', or 'crumb cake?'
Do you call mayonnaise 'mayonnaise' or 'dressing?'
Do you call what you sit on in the living room a 'couch' or a 'sofa?'
Is there anything that you have that you call by their name brand, rather than what it is? For example, it was the early days of car seats when my grandmother got our youngest, Ds, one. But, we never called it the car seat. We'd say, something like, "Do you want to move the Bobby Mac to the other car?" It was a Bobby Mac by brand. I know that a lot of people use the words Kleenex and Q-tips, even if that's not the brand that they are using.
Do you ever say 'trousers' for pants?
Do you call milk-ice cream drinks 'shakes', 'malts' or something else?
Do you call the readers for books, 'readers' or 'tablets', or something else?
Do you usually say that you are reading a 'book' or a 'novel?'
How about measuring cups - is it a 'quarter cup' or a 'fourth cup?'
As for where you cook, do you say 'range', 'stove top' 'cook stove', or 'cook top'?
