The beginning of the week it was nice out...70's/80's. Then the temperatures got warmer mid-week, back into the 90's and by Thursday it was 104. Better than it's been, but not as nice as 80's. There's a heat advisory for this weekend, but I don't see one for next week.
It was a super moon again, and it was a full moon, so it was really bright out. The full moon always brings out the wild critters, and this week was no exception. A fox leapt across the driveway one night, and our little herd of deer have been around, frolicking all night, lol! Sleep, who needs sleep?
Uhura got herself locked into the pantry...the only place in the house that isn't completely open. She finally meowed, and I sat straight up, because she's never called to us from a distance like that. I worried that she'd gotten stuck somehow. All's well that ends well, though. She was in little danger where she was, other than if she got upset. It just has things like pasta, canned goods, and light bulbs in it.
We had both a paper wasp nest, and a yellow jacket nest, outside this week. The wasps took over some water pipe, and the yellow jackets made their nest beneath a weedy bush. When someone tried to move the bush, they got stung.
We've now got the wasps blocked off, and the yellow jackets glass domed, which wasn't easy, as the nest is in the hill. It took 3 days to manage it, as the bush had to be removed first (cut a piece, run, let them settle, repeat.), then the light of the huge full moon meant that there was little dark time to work. In any light, they will swarm you. Some actually tried, but Dh was lucky.
I spent a few hours prepping and cooking this week.
We had a couple of crickets in the house again this week, and they called to each other across the house. We finally found and caught one, and then the other, putting them outside. It was nice to listen to them, though, I have to admit.
Frankie came over the other day, and he's doing great after his oral surgery.
I'm a little nervous about today and tomorrow. This weekend's heat advisory means that it will be very hot. It's not been that hot since we lost the 4 hens. So, it will be a challenge to keep them cool enough. I am just hoping that the changes that we made will see them through safely.
Thyri is proving that she's a California baby. She loves things like avocados, and even yogurt. Her mom is on antibiotics for dental work, so is eating yogurt each day. Thyri decided that she wanted some, and really likes it!
Well, I need to get some sleep, as I need to be up early. I will only be able to cook, clean, transplant plants, etc. etc. from dawn to 10, at the latest, if it gets as hot as they are predicting.
I can make phone calls afterwards. One that I need to make is to Chewy. The small pack wet cat food that we use, just came last week. Dh took it outside tonight, and it exploded in his pocket!
Not only did it explode, but it was the highest end of having gone bad, if smell was any indication. He threw off his clothes...good thing that we have no close neighbors, and began washing it off immediately. Yuck. They need to figure out what I'm to do with the rest of the case. We certainly won't try to use them!
Well, that's about all from here, how was your week?
Love All Life; Thank You For Posting! :)
