Day 2 Big Bend National Park is in southwest Texas and includes the entire Chisos mountain range and a large swath of the Chihuahuan Desert. Nearby is a real Ghost town. Just don't visit in the summer Extreme High Temps over 100. The land is visually unforgettable.
Day 3 The site of the infamous Battle of the Alamo in 1836, this fortress compound is now Texas’s most-visited (and most legendary) landmark. Then being in town, take a boat ride on the San Antonio Riverwalk just below street level in town. Listen to local musicians, enjoy Tex-Mex foods, shop & sightsee. If it's Spring see fields of wildflowers blooming every where.
Texas is a sightseers dream. Being so large there is enough variety for a vacation in each area of the state.
I have been lucky to have seen far West Texas, but also the cities of Dallas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio and so many small towns...which are beautiful gems.
Texas is so big it takes years to see it's diversity. I think I chose 3 good days worth visiting.
