We started out with a very hot week, as it's been. But then, on Thursday, it only reached 105, and took 1/2 the day to get there. Yesterday, it was 108.
Not that that is cool, by any means, but if the fans and swamp cooler are on, and we stay in, it beats what we've been having. Without the fans and swamp cooler, that would be dangerous heat for me. But, even with them, 115, 120 + are bad news, swamp cooler or no.
Tomorrow should be hot again, but they are predicting more weather like Thursday next week. I hope so.
I could use some good thoughts for a dog. Ds pushed that we need another dog immediately, if only to keep the chickens safe (we have seen bear evidence since Tilde's been gone.), because even when a dog just pops out for short times, the animals don't like being where they are, usually, but I have not seen a dog that will work for us.
They would have to be able to live with cats, be able to be around little ones, and have no food aggression because of both. However, on looking, I can't believe the # of dogs who can't be around children, cats, livestock, other dogs, etc.
Well, I found one that I think has potential, but the place that has him is not known for adopting out easily, though they did 32 years ago, but I knew people there at the time.
I don't want to say too much, but they are reviewing my papers as we speak, so any good dog thoughts would be appreciated.
We would have done more this week, once the heat was semi-bearable, but then Dh was stung and broke his toe/got his toes cut, and wasn't really game for my projects. So, I did a few small things that I've needed to do, and today/this weekend, I have new produce and chicken to process into freezer veggies, and freezer meals.
I saw 2 new beetles this week, and a new type of grasshopper. That's pretty amazing since Dh and I both really look at things like that, and we're just up the hill from where we've lived for 32 years.
We also found another camel spider. This makes 4 this summer. Yikes.
Well, a little late, but we've now seen a skunk here. The first one. It wasn't lost on me that it's been since Tilde's been gone.
He or she was cruising along the chicken yard one night, when Dh went to put gas in the generator.
Oh, I wanted to tell you about something I did, which is kind of neat. I have candle making items, all non-soy. It's not easy to find non-soy coated wicks, by the way. I've also got small tins which are pretty.
For ddil's birthday, I have one in pink which I made to smell like....wait for it: Fruit Loops. Really, it's remarkable. I have other types of scenting, but thought that she'd like it.
The cool this is that this is a 'birthday' candle. If you give it to someone for their birthday, they get to make a wish every time they blow it out!
It hasn't gotten hot yet today, so I can hear the birds singing. And also the deer have come by this morning already.
Maybe I can actually Saturday clean a little today. It will depend on the weather. I did open the house this morning at 5, once it was fully light. It was 53 degrees, but I've learned to let that cool air in before it hits triple digits. It's about time to close them again, actually.
How was your week?
