The weather this week wasn't too bad at first, considering. It was in the 90's until 2:30, then got only into the low 100's. But, the temperatures crept up, and by Friday it was back up to higher temperatures.
Well, whatever else happened, this week has become all about the new pup.
We are teaching, feeding, housebreaking, and keeping him on a schedule as best we can.
What I didn't know for the first 36 hours or so, was that his 'pain pill' was Rimadyl. Had I known that, I wouldn't have given him the last one, because he was itching horribly with no signs of why. Once I knew that it was the medication, we waited it out, and as he got farther from it, the itching began to lessen.
As you know, we have had visitations from bears, skunks, and deer where none of them belonged, just before we adopted him.
Mamou refuses to give up his cushy life for a silly dog, and comes in and sleeps in his usual spots. If the pup gets close, he does a kind of silent hiss, or several if the dog doesn't back down. I hate him being bothered this way, as I don't think that his health is the best, but he's handling it pretty well.
Uhura, on the other hand, is very upset. She barely comes in once a day, and yesterday when we wanted to give her a can of food to make her feel better about things, not allowing the pup to bother her, she didn't finish it before leaving.
I'm concerned about her, because she needs to eat in the house, and is, in some ways, being run off between Tux and the pup. I'm hoping that she'll come up, as I will continue to not allow dog interaction while she's in eating, but don't know how much it will help.
I worry about her being out, rather than in more, I worry about her not eating enough. Any prayers for her to decide that she can handle a dog and start coming in again, would be much appreciated.
A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned the wet food that was so bad that it exploded and got on everything, including Dh's clothing, and Dh.
Well, we called Chewy, where it was bought from, and I got a notification that they are replacing it, and that it's been shipped. I'm getting 24 twin packs from them, with no charge for the item, shipping, nor tax. I feel strongly about preferring to do business with companies that don't give me grief about things like this.
I'm also looking for new food. I would like puppy food for a few months, then he can go back to what I have here that he's been eating.
The pound didn't tell us what he'd been eating, but I wasn't going to feed their choice anyway, I'm sure, so we just started him on the open bag of what I was already feeding, until I can find a good puppy food.
We had a hen emergency, which we thankfully got through without losing the hen. It had nothing to do with weather.
My ginger is growing. I had a container of ginger which I had planned to slice and freeze for the fall and winter. It's much easier to pull out 5 slices and cook with it, rather than prepping it at dinner time.
Apparently, the heat was such that it triggered it to grow! I have growing bags, and we'll try planting them, and see what happens. I believe that there are 6 pieces with green sprouts on them! They take forever to grow, and can't take cold, but I'm going to give it the old college try.
Well, that's all that's going on here, it's *very* hot today. Hotter than it's been in almost 2 weeks.
How was your week?
