He thinks that they were lost on a job, which was vast. He does have one thought, though.
At one point, he had to repel down a cliff on a rope. He said it could have gotten caught and fallen off then. If not, it could be anywhere.
Tomorrow he will be going back to the job, north of here, and will hook up to the rope again, and see if it's down there. It could have gotten kicked farther down. If so, they are gone for good.
They include my truck, my house keys, all 3 p.o. box keys (ours, his, her original), my keyed alike padlock keys to get into our storage, I think our in-town storage, his locking box, etc. etc. What a mess. I sure hope that he finds them.
Btw, did you know that surveyors repelled down cliffs on heavy ropes? The ones that survey/draw maps for this kind of area do all kinds of amazing and difficult work to do what's needed.
