There are bald eagles in the area here, but here, nesting up a hill, and flying over our fields, is a golden eagle.
When first here, I realized that you could tell them apart from flying turkey vultures, without even looking at the wings, etc. because the golden eagles fly much higher up, as a rule, than vultures. I know that 'rule' doesn't apply in some cases, but in general, over my fields, it was true, and made for an 'at a glance' ID.
With those birds out, maybe the squirrels are laying low! :-)
