I think the same thing about the shade tree mechanics, and Dh's of course.
I don't know what happened to clothing and shoes.
Have you noticed that sizes aren't as uniform as they used to be? And that the room for chests, such as darts, aren't as common as they were?
It used to be, if you could wear shoes off of the rack, that a size 9 mens was a size 9 mens. Or a size 7 dress was a size 7 dress. Now, they weren't always flattering, so you needed to make sure that it was well-made, etc. but if you went to the size 7 dress rack, you could find something. You might not like the pattern, how it fit on various parts of the body, etc. but at least they were mostly 7's.
Now, a 7 might fit a 7, or maybe it will be way too small, like for a 5, etc. They tend to run small. There doesn't seem to be good quality control or uniformity now, as much as there used to be. Maybe because so much is imported?
I agree on the good things, also.
And, also missing family. When we moved here, we had no one that we knew/were related to close by.
But now, too, so many are gone. Our family was not as large as yours, but one side was pretty large, and we often got together as a group, or visited various family members. When we went places, more than 1/2 the time we went with cousins or grandparents. It didn't matter if it was to Knott's Berry Farm, to go swimming, or to go and stay in the mountains for a few days.
Now, when family gets together, there aren't many people left. All grandparents are gone, of course, parents are gone, all uncles are gone, all but one aunt, some cousins are gone, etc. So, I do miss family living close.
