I know, and they ought to fear everyday citizens, because people have lost everything, including friends - like we did a couple of years ago, family, and fur family members. No one is willing to overlook a pyromaniac at this point. I wouldn't want to be one at this point in time!
The one in Calpella, was set by a 20 yo guy. He was watching that house w/ the pets in it :-( burn, and that got him caught, ultimately.
Now, a 30 yo woman was caught after starting a fire...she took a lighter into the woods. She was standing where the fire started, which is how they found her. They are thinking that she's started several fires up and down the state. I wonder if she's confessed to as much, but they seem to feel it's so. We'll see.
It's an awful crime. :-(
Yes, way too close w/ the bear. We asked Ds if he could help us unload the trailer of that compost and help us get the trash in it to the place that you have to take it to. Wish we still had pick-up. :-(
Anyway, he did empty it yesterday, it took less than an hour all told, and now Dh is filling it with the trash. Then, Ds can put his in it, and take it. It may take a couple of weeks, but I'm hopeful, now that the trailer got emptied again.
It's called: Mighty Mint. I still don't know how effective it is, or how often it would have to be reapplied, but I'll keep you posted!
I agree, re: winterizing!
Boy, do I understand about the trash and recyclables! Our wish lists are pretty close!
Yes, bags and tarps break down. It's a nightmare getting all of the bits up, when they do. What do they want the trash in to take it?
How are they building a home when not there? Will it be close to her family?
I sure hope that you guys don't have another cold time like that. But, if you can prepare, it's always best.
Is there something that can be 'painted' onto your siding which will keep new mold from appearing, once it's cleaned up?
We have the same long-term type goal with the recycling because of the other house. We have so much divided stuff to go, but when they came to cut the trees off the roof etc. it was scattered *everywhere.*
We just can't give that our full attention right now, with so much needing to be done, but if we do it slowly... *sigh* At least we will get money back as we take it in...
I know, I end up with containers, eco-wise, that I don't want, either. Like you, I do my best, getting things in boxes when possible, paper that is compostable, recycled items etc., but it's just not always an option.
Yes, reusing is excellent, but we're finding that we have more than we can, so recycle the rest, if it can be, and most can, though I get pretty grumpy when something that *should* be able to be recycled, can't be because of stupid new 'rules' that are nothing more than someone setting policy that shouldn't.
Well, enough of that!
Have a wonderful week!
Love All Life; Thank You For Posting! :)
