Hopefully In future I will have the hoses so I can empty the top & bottom drains without moving the AC.
I always read instruction booklets. where Boy glances at them.
So when last here and he checked it out, he tipped the AC sideways, which had the water ran out the big air intake vent in the back. SIGH!
I cleaned it up as best I could, but I forgot to keep checking the back vent. I have been diligent about cleaning the vents, etc. But lately the air hasn't been anything but slightly cool.
So I investigated & found the large air intake vents were covered with "what looked like" a coating of dried dust. I called the AC Manufacturer, then Boy, for the vent was non replaceable and could only be ordered by a certified AC repair person. SIGH!
I talked to Boy a few times, who said he will check it out on Monday when we have to go to town to do paperwork for taxes, voting, blah, blah, blah.
Huh, wait a sec, today is Tuesday and afternoons are going to be in the 90s unless the thunderstorms they say may be here, really are here. Fat chance!
So I got down on my knees and spent 30 minutes analyzing what needed to be done and how I could do it.
2 hours later after cleaning the intake vents with a knitting needle, using a small soft pain brush, the vacuum cleaner, a hair dryer, and rearranging most of the front room to get Chances cage away from the AC -- which now blows wonderful cool air.
This is my first AC fix. I have to say, doing this on my knees was a real pain. It took 45 minutes on the phone, 30 minutes figuring out what I needed to do, the 2 hrs to do it. Then another 30 minutes to rearrange the living room. Plus Chance had to be moved away from the window now that Fall is here.
I am not unaccustomed to doing major house chores. Right now I am scrubbing the house siding to remove all the dry mold. Good thing I am tall, LOL.
Anyway, I called Boy & told him what I did to fix it and he said, "Good Job Mom". Praise indeed. 8-)
