There hasn't been more then an inch of rain so lake is still at 28%.
Apparently Hurricane Pamela is coming up from the Pacific Ocean through Mexico and headed right for mid Texas. In other words Here!
They are predicting 6 inches or more of rain in Hill Country... which if we get that much, it will flow down hill to SA. They are to get just 2 inches of rain. But add our over flow - probably some flooding.
I truly wish Calif would get most of this. My yard has greened up again. Which means mostly the weeds, reeds, grasses etc. The 12 Lantana bushes have dropped all their leaves, yet on a few bushes there are some tiny single flowers. Weird... like the Morning Glories.
The other morning I saw 3 bald eagles that appeared a few minutes apart above my Cedar trees. Glorious! I may have posted this before. Oh well.
I put up my new Wicker ovals on the two gates. Bought some new fake flowers. Added all the fake Fall leaves of bright orange to the blossoms of deep brown red, pale orange and bright orange flowers. Along with a few sun flowers. The oval bases are larger then my round ones that died last year.
I also bought a few branches of greenery and some reeds. I think these are the best I've done. Have to admit each one is bigger then I planned. Also I put together a smaller decor to hang by my porch light by the front door.
A little oddity, at least every other day, as I walk out back, I find 1 single Morning Glory flower on a small 5 ft tree on which I had dropped lots of Morning Glory seeds from vines in 2020. During the summer it has been loaded with MG blossoms. Now just a single tiny flower on the tree. Odd.
I checked the lake depth since the last 2 night thunder storms.. it is only 28.8 ft. Give or take an inch or two. It's over a year since it was 50% full. Hopefully Pamela will fill it, especially if we get the projected 6 inches. Fingers crossed.
I will have to move the small bird feeders off the back porch. The mouse/rat has taken to feeding from it early morning. I have no clue where to put it. It's a double cup feeder. Hummm?
Last night the Black Headed vultures put on a fantastic display like the BOR vultures did.
The gather and create a spiral where the vultures at the top would drop one at a time down the center of the spiral. Then add themselves to the bottom as the next highest Vulture dropped down the center to add itself to the bottom. This was an exquisite dance.
The TX Bluejays this morning were doing a Ma & Pa training session with a youngester. They had it follow directions from Pa first. Which was the calling... the youngster flew towards the right branch, but it took a few tries to land on the metal cup. Then it dropped a few peanuts on the ground as it tried to fly away with its bounty. So wonderful to watch.
I haven't seen my squirrels as often lately. So I was excited to see one scamper along the power line next door. I quickly added a few more nuts in the peanut cup out back, banged a fossil on the metal can, then I scampered back inside. A bit later, 30 minutes, the nuts were all gone. I hope the squirrel got them, not the Bluejays..There are a number of Bluejays here... or it could be the Northern Red Cardinals, or the two types of Titmouse Song birds, or even one of the Carolina Chickadees that all are stealing the Peanuts from the Squirrels.
No Black Birds this year... but there is one family of Hummers still here. The Ruby Throated pair.
Well this enough nature tales for now.
My windows are open. Both AC fans on low drawing in coooool air. Its lovely.
Have a fab nature week where you are.
Oh I finished clearing out Boy's flat trailer. Still plastic water bottles to recycle, but the old sheet and tarp have been trashed.
No snake sightings, thank goodness.
Whew! Lol scarey cat here!
