I am sorry that nickel is a problem for you.
Hooray! C-diff is a nasty bug. Was Dh dx'd with it by a test?
That's not a bad thought. Once you've taken it out of your diet, and are feeling perfect, you can slowly test to see if a little bothers you, then a little more.
If it does, at least you have been making and buying things for Erin that you know work.
I just don't like to see anyone have to cut back what they can eat, especially if they enjoy eating out, like we used to. And, the fact that a lot of the foods that are gf are more expensive than the gluten option at the store. Not counting the convenience factor. It's nice to be able to buy a frozen meal, or other pre-made food.
So, I'm going to hope that, that's not it for you, despite your family history.
I have often wondered, though, where does the family line of Celiac's begin? For example, your mom. But, what about people in the family before her? Didn't anyone else have it, and didn't it make them really sick? What did they think was wrong with them, and shouldn't we have heard about it?
I have been suspicious about the 'family stomach' on my mom's side. No one stopped eating gluten, but my grandfather took baking soda every night before bed. It wasn't as serious as it could be, if it was a gluten problem, but maybe...? It just seems odd that no one was deathly ill from it, if anyone had it.
