About Dh's appt. - it went alright. The Dr. had to admit that Dh was right about having had a phone appt., and having them all along but for every 3rd month,*but* he feels that the state will not allow phone appts. anymore. I'm not sure about that being true, for several reasons, but we'll go with that for the time being, and call the state later on.
Dh met the new woman at the counter, and she was as bad, if not worse, than on the phone. I'm not even going to go into it, she's not important enough.
I will say that she tried to get the Drs. Japanese pugs kicked out of the room, because one was on the exam bed and had his nose pretty much in Dh's ear (they always like Dh.), and when Dh said that they could stay, she huffed off to 'see about that' with the Dr. I guess that she didn't realize how much the Dr. adores his pups. They stayed.
After the Drs. appt., Safeway had called about a missing case that we had ordered almost a month ago. So, they stopped in to pick it up, and since they were there anyway, Dh picked up a couple of vegetables, and some treats for himself, lol!
To be fair, his treats were on sale. 4 large cupcakes at the bakery, which have chocolate frosting on them which smells delicious, btw, were $6.99. But, on sale they were $1.99. He split them with Ddil, so has two for a dollar, basically.
I got a handful of beets, and some greens, and wanted broccoli but it's expensive today for some reason. But, Dh found reasonable Brussels...yeah!
Then, they stopped at the post office, and Dh ran into the man that we know who heads up Ecology Action. We like him so much, and don't see him much these days.
They spoke for a while, and he gave Dh a box of papers and a couple of books, and 2 bags of cat litter.
The litter is walnut, (can you see my hair standing on end?) and is scented, which they don't use. Dh accepted it for the Kitty Kampers. I'm a little hesitant, but it's not for in the house, and they aren't huge bags, so hopefully it will be fine.
I don't know all that's in the book paper bag, but I do know that there's a copy of 'Grow More Vegetables' hooray! My 30 year old copy from them got ruined down in the other house earlier this year when the tree hit the house and water leaked in on some items, including some books.
My oldest grandson went up to the farm there for a while, so they spoke of that, then about some friends that we all have in common, about wisdom and old times, etc. etc. I really adore that man.
But, I didn't know how old that he is exactly. I knew that he was older than we are, but not by how much. He is 81. How time flies. We met him when he was in his late 40's.
My car's not running...but Ds did get my spare tire back while waiting for Dh to be finished at the Drs. appt., and they filled our gas cans.
Then, I got a call from the head of inspections at my certification organization. Our place should be reviewed shortly for recertification, hopefully, but there was an issue.
Apparently, the NOP (National Organic Program, which is a federal regulatory program that does a few things.) has decided that when you have an inspection, a legal contact must be present. In our case, Dh and I are the only legal contacts.
Because we asked them to not use Ds as a contact, as he doesn't want or need to get all of my paperwork, then our inspection couldn't stand. *face plant in my palm.*
So, after a long talk, we agreed to have him as a legal contact as a place marker, but not to receive calls, mail, etc. That took a little while, because there was a huge time delay on his phone from when I said something until he heard it, at which time he was already saying the next thing, so it's difficult to talk around. But, it got settled. He's a nice kid. He's in a high position, and is super intelligent, but younger than Ds.
And then, when Dh got home, it started to rain, I mean really rain. I was glad that it held off until everyone was home. They are predicting 1"-2" before morning. If it keeps up like this, it will be more. But, we are also getting very high winds. One gust sounded like thunder!
They are saying 36 mph gusts on the computer, but John (our friend that Dh saw.) said that he heard that they could be over 55 mph in some places. Here's hoping for trees to stay put. It's just a bad combination, ground saturation and high winds.
Last week 2 big oak trees came down on the road. One on CalTran's property, and one on the neighbor's property.
Well, that's enough for now.
In quick critter news, Tux made figure 8's around Dh's feet today, which is unusual for him. But, the real news is that, after watching him, Krypto did his version of figure 8's, lol! Silly pup!
Okay, it's 8:30, I'm going to see about rustling up some food! Have a great night!
