I was watching a show where people compared their Christmas traditions. One that each had in common when they were children, was opening new PJ's on Christmas Eve.
It occured to me that we did the same. That made us camera ready for Christmas morning, probably, but it was nice to get up on Christmas Day in brand new PJ's, either way.
Was your Christmas tradition to celebrate on Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day. Some people had their family get-together's, food, and present opening on Christmas Eve, others on Christmas Day.
We mostly opened gifts on Christmas Day, and did have Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. That's what I did/do with my family once I had children, too.
However, that said, my paternal grandparents lived close by compared to my other grandparents, and we often went to their house on Christmas Eve, after dinner, and exchanged gifts with them then.
The next day, we opened gifts not from them, in the morning. Later that afternoon they came over to visit and have Christmas dinner with us.
So, for a while we did do something family related on Christmas Eve, but it didn't replace our Christmas Day traditions.
How about you?
