As you know, it's been a combination of cold and wet this week. It should be wet and cold next week.
The baby had fun at Christmas. Ds made my Christmas cake on Christmas Day, and now she wants Christmas cake! lol! Good luck to them on that! At least it is, ahem, sorta' healthy, as there are 3.5 apples in it, but still...!
Meanwhile, my baby - Krypto - has enjoyed his new toy from Christmas. It's very unusual in shape, and is quite heavy, but he likes it, so that's the important thing. And, he got a new elk antler that he's thrilled with.
I was surprised last night for it to already be dark later. It's only been 10 days since the daylength has changed, and already we were able to lock down the chickens for the night a little later! Hooray! They enjoy being out longer.
And speaking of chickens...we have had foxes around this week. Krypto was barking earlier in the week, 2 nights in a row but we couldn't see anything. Then, Dh went out of the kitchen door, and off ran a fluffy-tailed fox. Aha!
So, we have been extra-vigilant about locking down the hens as soon as they jump into their houses. More on that on the Parlour.
Someone who lives a tiny bit north of us, but not at all far, took a photo of 5 large salmon in the creek that is actually part of our year-round creek.
He said that there are 2 females digging holes (hooray, egg laying behavior!), and 3 males just milling about.
That probably means that our big creek is full of salmon! Which is great after the drought years that we've had. This is not to say that the drought is over, but it's a step in the right direction!
Unfortunately that part of the creek's water level, where he saw the salmon, is dropping fast. On the other hand, we are supposed to have rain on Sunday night, and much of next week. Hopefully, that will help them out.
We've got a beautiful buck hanging around. He's got a beautiful rack of antlers, and looks like a commercial when he stands still.
Well, it's time for us to go to bed. We are up because of all of the noise. The guy with the cannon around here shot it a couple of times. Then he was joined by a guy who sounds like he has dynamite. And then, a gun...it sounded like a pump shotgun.
Now that they've all finally gone to bed, we will, too. Krypto barked at the various explosions.
How was your week?
