Note: my Mother & dad decided he would name al daughters and she would name all sons.
My maternal grandfather was Joseph Brinkley Price. I think he was my Grandmother's cousin. Her name was Mary Elizabeth Price.
What I know about them is very little except for the following.
Called the Nana & Pop-pop. I do know that Nana's father owned a Plantation in Maryland. Her mother died from being thrown from a horse. My aunt Vernette Rea Price (a newspaper reporter) had done her family's history. My mother would not share.
My aunt did verify that her father's (Pop-Pop) family was related to Pres. Richard Nixon. Vincent Price was a cousin. My Nana's family was related to Winston Churchill's Mother's family.
If my mother had any family history it was destroyed in a storm in CA. If my aunt has any it was destroyed when she died. I hope to do it eventually. My Aunt Vernette Rae Price was one of my idols being a newspaper reporter.
Now I will do my Father's sister's history as she went all the way back to the Revolutionary War.
I won't go that far - though I do have that information. My Dad's mother's parents came from the Isle of Mull and the Isle of Skye. They moved to Canada. Their daughter Charlotte Blatchley ... Married my Grandfather whos grandparents came from East Germany then to Lincoln Nebraska where they had my Great Grandfather. He's a fascinating character. His son was Harry Lloyd U...d. My Dad was Harry Lloyd U....D Jr.
My Dad's parents had a son who was killed by a nurse in the hospital along with a number of other newborns. I say this for I was named after him. Patrick became Patricia.
My brothers all ended up with first names from my mother's family. They all had Lloyd as their middle name.
My Dad's brother became Robert Blatchley - his mother name him and his middle name is her family name.
To add a twist my uncle married his Canadian cousin whose name was Flora. (Plum - this ring a bell for you?) 8-)
My favorite cousin Barbara died of Breast Cancer in the 90s a week after my stay with her family for a week. Her brother Glenn Blatchly U...d and I have re-established the family connection. He is the last of his branch of the family but for Barbara's 2 daughters and his son.
My Dad's sister, my Aunt, was Mary Elizabeth U...d
She never married but was an idol of mine.
Ok back to my Mother's family. Her eldest sib was Brinkley Price, Her eldest sister was Vernette Rae Price, then the younger brothers Martin Price and Elmon Price and last my mother Mary Claire Price.
On to my immediate family.
My son is Richard Thurman D....Y THe Richard was for King Richard but was claimed by my brother Richard. lol I named him for King Richard The LionHeart. His middle name is from his dad's father's family.
My Daughter was named for Katherine (Hepburn) and My mother's sister's Middle Name Vernette Rae.
I was named for my Dad's dead brother, my middle name was my mother's middle name.
There are a lot of Mary's in this family on my mother's side. A lot of Lloyds as well.
Which makes me 1/3 Scottish, 1/3 German and 1/3 English. According to our family records.
