My maternal dgps both lived long enough for me to get to know them. Again, they were farmers, so there was not much to go around. My dgm was a fantastic, and she always had vanilla wafers for us. By the way, there were 19 of us, so she really couldn't give us all gifts. We went to the farm every other Sunday afternoon after church, and all the family was there except for the one aunt and her family who lived in Michigan. The joy we had as kids was roaming the farm and being allowed to walk down the road. We were related to every one on the road, so there was no fear that anything would happen to us. The baby animals were always so much fun to watch.
Even though we did not get things from either set of dgps, the joy of being around them was enough, and I know they loved us all.
