She was also a professional bowler. So I went there also. She was a watercolor painter. I still have a few of her paintings. She made the best pancakes and we had eating contests. I loved her best of all.
She & Pop-Pop were friends with the Wright Brothers, also with Frank Buck who was the Bring Them Back Alive hunter. Zoos received many of his animals.
The women in my family who were born in the 1800s were grand dames in fullest sense. The way they looked, talked and gave of their selves. I was so fortunate to have them in live as much as I did.
I still miss my grandparents on both sides as well as all my Aunts & Uncles and even New Jersey.
My other grandmother had Diabetes and lost her leg in the 60s.
She was a grand dame if you know what I mean. She lived in an old Victorian with my Dads sister. I loved that house. But especially her bookcases full of all kinds if books. Being the only granddaughter for a few years I read and read and read. I was reading at six years of age. My Dads family were all readers and so it was in my genes to read as well. Opera was also very important. My Grandmother was in the Daughters of the American Revolution DAR. So family history became part of my knowledge. She did not cook but my Aunt did.
I am who I am in large part due to them. They were all larger then life. 8-)
