The cloudy skies passed away, as the golden sun rose above the horizon.
Day grew while I saw to my critter chores,
Humidity had been a warm blanket overnight.
But slowly the moist air thinned as warmth made its way upon the land.
The Day dawned sunny and bright.
After feeding the wild birds and squirrels
I strolled about my yard as my dog raced to the back then back to the front.
Searching for the chickens he heard but couldnít see.
I called him inside for his and the catís breakfasts.
After I hung the laundry and fed the parrot, I walked to the mailbox.
Itís good to start the day by walking down, then up my hill.
After a breakfast omelet I washed the dishes.
Glancing out the kitchen window I saw streaks of pale green rain in the sunlight
Not rain but the male flowers dropping off my Oak trees.
As the wind gusted periodically, the numbers grew
Clouds of Catkins floated to the ground while landing on stairs & lawn furniture
In time Acorns would appear on my Oaks.
What a pretty sight it was.
By chance I glanced towards a small movement on the closest limb of the Oak
A small bird was walking and fluttering along the bottom and sides of the limb
It was a Carolina Wren.
They are one of my favorite song birds. Pretty brownish red feathers
And a tail that sticks up in the air.
I am seeing more of them than usual this year.
Last Fall I cut down some very thorny bushes, which were homes to a few of them.
So I felt bad when some of the Wrens were upset with me.
Keeping an eye out for them I discovered they had new homes
There is an open space in the siding on my home, plus the old well tank has holes also.
I love to watch them as they go in and out, chirping & singing.
Wrens are such tiny birds, and so personable.
I saw the Red Tailed Hawk streak out of my back yard when out to hang clothes
It has its eye on my Sparrows, and the Wrens, of course.
What a lovely morning this has been.
