Color of Destiny from the Color of Heaven series. Kate was an EMT and this story reached back to the first story...turns out Kate was the EMT when Sophie was pulled out of the frozen lake. Anyway, Kate has to get away from her town after her husband overdoses on drugs and alcohol because people who he owed money to were going to come after her. I may have to read the others in this series!
