The table runner along the top of couch is golden shades... which match the stones and the town buildings in the tapestry right above it.
I have two more frameless pictures. The grey floral is in the corner and on the next wall I have a handmade smaller tapestry given me by my Other Mom when she and her DH were going through the Panama Canal. It has sheep & goats and people in bright yarns against a dark hill. Works for me.
Going past the window and Chances tall cage there is another print. It is shades of ivory and brown and is of a vase with 2 orchids ? and lots of slender green leaves.
But that wall is behind the Victorian Chair. Which in front of the built in cabinet. That's where I have all the items for you. Flora etc.
One of these days.
But just behind the chair which is catty cornered to the corner.... I have a long tree limb from which hangs a few very Hippie hand made things. The limb is from when I lived in my ex friends cabin down the road from BOR. I have lugged it from there to here. LOL
A maple table is between that Chair and the Black rocker with Red velvet cushions. There is also a Wooden floor lamp next to it.
I use all colors wood. I bring the outside in and have a number of wine bottles full of reeds, grasses, etc
Moving to the dining room the indoor outdoor carpet under the dining room table is rust with golden design of rings. None of the chair match as I had everyone pick out their own chair. DGS picked out a white wood which is antiqued a bit with touch of blue that the cushion matches. YDGD picked out a very pink spindle chair. My DDIL sent over two chairs upholstered in leather SIGH! so the cats ripped them of course. So I used two more red cushions that match the Rockers cushions and over the chair backs I put two Camo pillow cases. It sorta works. But I need to redo both chairs. Boys Chair is a leather love seat. Which works alone on one side of the table or at an end if I turn the table lengthwise from the window. Which it is not right now.
There are baskets on top of shelves, on counters etc. The wardrobe trunk is now a divider between the kitchen and the dinning room. There is a good sized walkway between the trunk and the chairs & table.
All my China, teapots, teacups, etc are in the cupboard that was on the wall but got moved next to the window in the dining room. The wall between the dining room and pantry is where the built in China cabinet and storage cabinet are.
I have baskets of apples, russets, onions, avocados, a rectangle basket that holds all my knives, sharpeners, can opener, etc. etc.
I put two large wooden crates on the wall in the kitchen for all my bottles of rice, beans, pasta, etc, etc. The counter is long and under the kitchen window with the sink under the window.
The microwave is at the end next to the fridge. which is the end wall to the kitchen. There are cabinets for supplies on the end wall and the window wall for all my boxed & canned supplies.
The bar counter that divides the kitchen and the living room connects the trunk at one end. I have a bar stool inside on the kitchen side.
Once past the kitchen and Dining room there is a bit of wall before the utility room and the back door. On that wall I have a THINK sign and any number of cut outs of things I like. Spices, waves, clouds, you name I have something about it.
But my favorite is a 8.5 x 6 in poster of a Male Chimp in a tux holding a human skull. Its in black & White I still don't have any idea what it means to me. All the rest are in color from magazines. A color pallet, sky, etc. There is a pic of a Greece temple, archaeology, etc. Across from it is my Tree 2022 calendar. LOL! Oh, all the animal photos are on my fridge, Cows, horses, etc, etc.
I haven't gotten around to doing my bedroom walls Good thing as I had to move my desk. The end of the desk is against a wall next to the door to my water heater room which has all my files, sewing and xmas stuff... along with my "yard clothes"
Sitting at my desk has one of my windows behind my back and I face my bed on the opposing wall. But catty corner to the front of my desk is my bamboo TV stand. next to the door to my bathroom. Then and a wood end table with a oriental wooden framed floor lamp next to a glass table with lots of books, DVD's,. The ony thing on that wall is a small calendar photo of the beach and a hammock. Above the end table is a wreath with all the favorite flowers my DD, my aunts, other mother and I loved.
The two photos on the bulletin boards by my desk is one of DD & I in MN by the lake And the Andrew Wyth "Master Bedroom" drawing.
The wall behind my bedroom door where my desk used to be is now where Charlie's Upholstered Chair is. Next to it is a steamer trunk with all my quilting and sewing materials in side. Above it is my Poster of a woman during WWII showing off her Pecks wearing full makeup, a scarf hiding her hair and wearing work clothes. Across the top is printed "WE CAN DO IT" When I worked in MN it was the poster in my office. I ran the employee training, etc and it was a all time favorite. I left mine there and bought a second one for here.
Above it are three photos from calendars that were of Archaeology sites in Greece, Scotland and Egypt.
Behind me as I post is my Bureau with photos of m kids, and so many little things. LOL.
So there you have it. My idea on how to furnish a home.
Colors on the walls, and floors. Furniture that speaks to you. Odd fixtures, things from outside to inside. And Inside to outside.
Shawls hang from the Bamboo TV stand and from hooks on bedroom doors. Hats are everywhere so that I can grab them a I go outside. Blank walls yet to be filled. Colors that challenge you.
Hooks for coats. Put things in odd places. I have two sand paintings that are small and they each sit on the edge of one of the Armories over a number of baseball caps hanging from hooks.
One is near the kitchen and is a drawing of an old kitchen range with cowboys sitting around one of the burners, while one on a horse guards a small herd of cattle.
One in the front room is of an American Indian dancing.
My rule is if you see something that speaks to you grab it.
Ok that's it for this subject. *-)
