What 'beauty things' did your grandmothers, or mother do, when you were growing up?
My mother's mother had her hair rinsed every so often, for example. The lady came to her house and did it in the kitchen, as people used to do back in the day. Especially if you knew your hairdresser.
My dad's mother had her hair cut, styled, and sprayed every so often. Then, she wore a sort of pink hair cover over her hair when she went to bed, and a matching chin strap. I should get one of those...it worked for her!
The problem for me was that she used hair spray, which, aside from flea powder, was the only thing that I got allergy symptoms from. I simply learned to keep out of her bedroom and bathroom when she used it.
My mom's mom used hairspray also, on church nights, for which she dressed up, but hers didn't give me the same problem. Maybe it was brand.
My mother didn't do a lot of beauty prep, aside from 2 things...a cream on her face, and for a while, when it was the fashion, she used some large curlers on the bottom of her hair to create a flip at the bottom of her hair.
How about your family? Or, for that matter, you?
