she didn't have much money for anything "frivolous." I think she may curled her hair, but I never saw her do that.
My dm didn't do much either. When we were younger, she shampooed and set her own hair. She did go to the beauty shop for perms and haircuts when I was a kid. She mostly did her own hair.
My dm gave us home perms when I was a kid and did take us to get our hair cut. As an adult, I used to get a perm quite often, but my present hair dresser told I didn't need a perm and does a great job of cutting my hair. I do have to use hair spray as I have two cowlicks. They are a nuisance. I do wear make=up, but I have switched to a powder base, and I really like it. I have to do something with my eyebrows as they are going away. That is about it.
