Answer: Diners Club was conceived in 1949 at the Major's Cabin Grill restaurant in New York City. Frank McNamara, co-founder of Diners Club, realized he had forgotten his wallet at home while dining with clients. That evening, he was inspired to invent the world's first charge card. The official history of the Diners Club refers to this meal as "The First Supper." McNamara's originally intended to create a card that could be used as a means of payment in restaurants around New York City; however, he gradually expanded its use to include hotels, auto rentals, and flower shops across the country.

In 1928, a mathematician with the U.S. Geological Survey determined the geographic center of North America to be near Rugby, North Dakota. Three years later, Rugby erected a 15-foot stone monument proclaiming itself to be the "Geographical Center of North America." However, new research published in 2017 using a different method of calculation, indicates that the geographic center of North America may instead lie 145 miles southwest of Rugby, near the town of Center, North Dakota. Whether its Rugby or Center, the "Geographical Center of North America" can be found in the state of North Dakota.
