Good news on the fan!
When I was growing up, my sister's bedroom was on the west side of the house, with west-facing windows. It was like an oven in there by afternoon. Luckily, my window/glass door faced east. Much, much better. So, I know the difference that it makes, where windows are located.
Yes, breezes really make a difference.
