African Queen was one of my mother's favorite movies, too.
I like a lot of Katharine Hepburn's movies. 2 that I own, but don't know where they are, and won't until the house is done and boxes are unpacked, are: Bringing Up Baby - 1938, the one about the leopard, and Desk Set - 1957, where she's an information lady that people call for random information, and a computer, which is huge, is brought in.
Yes, my dad too with sci-fi. That's how I got the original Frankenstein poster, and the first edition on Dracula...the original Bram Stoker version. I didn't sleep well for a month after reading it, lol!
I agree on the movies.
Transistor radios used to be such a 'thing'. Originally, I remember metal and black ones. No frills. Then, by the late 80's/early 90's they had them in pretty colors at places like Radio Shack, which is a store that I miss. One year I got each child a different colored radio...sea foam green, pink, and I have forgotten the 3rd color. They enjoyed them for years.
Good sounding plans.
