We had a very pleasant weather week. The days took a long time to get to temperature, the highs of which ranged from 80's - 92. But, it was cooler in the morning and early afternoon. It felt a lot like fall here most of the day. I didn't even need my tabletop fan until 3-4 ish. The nights have been in the low-mid 40's. That's such a difference from what it's been that we've felt cold at night and until about 10-11 A.M., so I've put an extra blanket on our bed.
The forecast a few days ago said that we had a small chance of rain starting tonight and through Monday, but it's changed, and now the percent is higher, and we have chances of rain through Tuesday. The prediction is up to an inch for all of the days combined, then clear weather again. They are warning that this isn't enough rain to end the season of heat and fires, but it will help some. We will continue to be under a burn ban until the storm doors actually open for the season.
My only concern is that we usually get one good storm in September, before the heat continues until the end of October, and it can be a thunder storm. I'm praying for there not to be lightning with this rain, or else more fires will be started.
We had a quiet anniversary, which we both prefer anyway. It was pleasant, and we caught up on a show that we watch. I had 2 episodes taped, so we watched them. Boy, are we ever the last of the big partiers, lol! Oh, and there was food, of course, with cherry ice cream for Dh. Tillamook has a 3 pint carton that we sometimes get for him. Sometime, look at ice cream, the 1/2 gallon cartons are almost as extinct as T-Rex!
The cats have been coming in to sleep much earlier than recently. First, it's dark much, much earlier, and light later. I think that the drop in night temperature has played a role in it, too.
We had our annual organic inspection on Thursday. It seemed to go well, but...I wish that they could find a new inspector. This woman makes my blood pressure go up.
Every year members are required to fill out an extensive systems plan. It's pages and pages long. So, I did. I've never been able to get out of it yet, even on fallow years. And she told Ds...who meets her to walk her down to the garden these days...that she didn't need it. She barely glanced at it. Then she wanted the wildlife section. It was in. the. systems. plan! The one that she gave back to Ds without reading.
And, finally, she was here less than 15 minutes, because she decided not to walk down to the garden. But my invoice is billing me for 45...which equals a lot of extra $'s. I am frustrated, as I now need to call the main company and tell them that I have their systems plan, and that I don't want to pay for 45 mins. There's more, but you get the idea. Sheesh!!
On a more positive note, Thyri is feeling much better. Another week like this, and she will be fully well, I think. Whew.
The deer have been plentiful, which is good since the 1st deer hunting season starts today. I remember so clearly dressing the kids in bright colors, and putting bright collars on the dogs at this time of year. Not everyone respects private property.
I decided to plan my holiday meals this week. I'm satisfied with them, so that's one more little thing done.
Everyone is out of my cat litter. I have trouble with ingredients in many, and disposing of the rest. I thought that I'd found it for a minute, at Chewy, but it's a variation that I can't use. I may have to see if there's anything that I can use at the store. Has anyone else noticed a supply problem with theirs? This is the first time for this one, and it seems to be web-wide.
The hummers have also enjoyed this weather. They are flying and eating all day long since it cooled off. They were languishing in the heat last week, just as we all were.
Well, that's all from this neck of the woods. How was your week?
