Yes, family and food were a huge thing for me at Thanksgiving, also. One thing that you said really resonated with me...that the house wasn't that big, but that it seemed that way to you, growing up.
My maternal grandmother had people there most of the time, and a lot of people on holidays, or even other get-togethers, and I always felt that they had a large house. But later, as I got older, I realized that it wasn't as large as I had thought when I was younger. What an interesting change in perspective.
She does sound like a special aunt.
Us, too. We didn't hang around while out parents watched Football on New Year's Day. We went out and played. It was often clear and blue on New Year's Day, which was good for the Rose Parade.
