If you eat chicken, you may want to put a little in the freezer. There are signs at the store saying that due to supply and demand and the complication of bird flu on the supply level, that chicken will be going up in price, and may not be as plentiful. I've never seen a sign like that before.
That's always been my experience with birds, too. But, this was quite late...maybe close to midnight.
That's true about phone numbers. There was an article that talked about all of the things that modern people won't need to do, because of technology, and one of them was memorize a phone number.
We have had talks about memory here, and I said that I feel as if memorizing things early in life 'trains' your mind to remember things later on. For example, when I was a child, I went with my grandmother to a deli store that sold meats, pickles, and other savory foods on one side of the room, and on the other side of the room was the bakery section.
Because it was always busy, my grandmother sometimes asked me to stand in line at the bakery, to hold her place. And, if I should get to the front of the line, to please ask for...and she'd tell me what she wanted. For example, 2 cheese Danishes, 6 onion rolls, 2 chocolate chip croissants, and 1 loaf of bread. We didn't write it down.
I never thought much about it until one day, decades later, when I was watching the game show: Supermarket Sweep. The host gave the contestants a list of baked goods to get while they were out shopping, for extra bonus points. Something like 4 dinner rolls, 1 Kaiser roll, and 3 onion rolls.
The contestants would sometimes bring back the wrong number of items, items, or give up all together, while I remembered what the host said exactly. So, my theory is that it's because of early exposure doing it, which doesn't bode well for people using technology to replace their memories, I don't think.
I think that it's great that you are writing to the kids, good idea, and wonderful that it's getting a good response! Did you ever have a pen pal?
That's so much fun to have them over for lunch! Well, if you need to use the bbq for the whole time, it will still be very tasty!
Is the reunion far?
Oh, that's right about Walter...I had forgotten that!
Thank you, what a great list. I will show it to Dh. This may have just made my life a whole lot easier!
Have a wonderful coming week!
