The weather was similar to last week. Cold at night, cool for most of the day, then warm for a short time in the afternoon...plummeting as soon as the sun moves.
This coming week has a mixed bag of weather predicted. Everything from rain, to snow, to cold and clear. The rain and snow are small chances, except for one day. The nights will be as cold as this week's, and colder.
Because of Thanksgiving, Ds ended up at the store, which I took advantage of, and got a few things, which I'll prep and put away this weekend.
I've also got my Christmas project for Thyri. I'm taking 26 pieces of card stock and putting capital letters on one side, with lower case letters on the other. *But* I'm putting 2 on each side...one in print, with the cursive version next to it. And, the same on the other side.
My thought is that, if she looks at the print versions, she will be exposed to the cursive version next to it. Know one, and know the other.
I want Ds to laminate them for me. I may draw something familiar on each one, such as an apple for the letter 'A' and so forth. Or, perhaps, I can find small enough stickers to work with.
This week, when Ds was here to drop off groceries, he and Dh saw a fox on the hill next to my house. If they hadn't looked up right when he/she was scratching their ear, they wouldn't have seen him/her, as they blend in so well.
Meanwhile, guess what was on the floor...in my house...this week? A scorpian! At least it was one of the black ones, but still...! No, thank you! Besides the fact that Krypto would have put his face up to it, had he seen it first, I can do without them in the house.
When we shopped the other day, we did the right thing, and shopped at the food warehouse first. That takes longer, but you never know what will be for sale for less.
We found bags of small sweet potatoes for about 75% off of where we next shopped. And, they were very tasty!
But, while there were bargains on quite a few items at every store, the best one of the day was cheese at the warehouse. Dh eats quite a bit of cheese in order to maintain his weight without increasing his sugar intake. We buy a particular brand, and I get the size that's the best deal, which is usually the 2 lb. blocks. I get a mix of Jack, colby-Jack, and cheddar.
Well, on shopping day, they had our large blocks for 1/3 off of a good supermarket price, per block. In the end, I save about $25. But, the rub is, they turned out not to be 2 lb. blocks, they were 2 1/2 lb. blocks! Hooray! I won't need to worry about cheese until after the new year some time.
But, my favorite thing of the day...after the cheese, of course!...was an ornament.
At the supermarket in the next town over they had a sale. There was a dog ornament. A German shepherd to be specific. He looks a lot like Krypto, down the the lack of markings on his head, other than his mask. Oh, and he's wearing a knitted scarf!
Oh yes, and we found an Advent calendar for Thyri with chocolates which are dairy-free! I love it when things work out.
I've also read a lot, and played my games on my reader. I'm really glad to have it back.
This week, the 2 hummingbirds that stayed ate like it was going out of style.
I hope that everyone's Thanksgiving day was pleasant.
How was your week?
