I finished the book that I'd started a while back, about the 2 cats who have 'magical powers' and helped their mistress solve a murder. I would read the other books in the series.
One thing that I liked a lot, besides the mystery, was that these two cats are formerly feral, like most of mine, and they take the time to explain the difference between formerly feral cats, and cats that have been lost or abandonned.
After that, I started a book that is a little annoying, about a private eye who ends up with his girlfriend's golden retriever while she flies home to be with her mother who's in the hospital. She treats the dog like a person, he treats him like a dog.
I told Dh that it sounded like a book that was not written by a woman, because I could hear the edge of hostility and disrespect toward the female characters. I checked, and sure enough, male writer. I have nothing against male writers, of course, just this one.
Because I am tired of the book after a chapter or less, I started 2 new books to read after that chapter each night.
One is by an author who I have several books by...Leighann Dobbs. She has written many series. I counted that she'd written 77 books so far.
This book is part of a series about an insurance investigator. She is going after a ruby which was stolen from a museum, and sometimes even impersonates an FBI agent. In fact, her ex-partner is an FBI agent. Also, she sometimes enlists her retired jewel thief parents and their band of retired thieves, safe crackers, and con men. So far it's entertaining, and makes a good follow-up after a chapter of the guy that I don't care for much so far.
How was your reading week?
