Ultimately, I want 3 trees. 1 real one, and perhaps 2 which aren't.
My real tree in the living room, with my ornaments on it.
In another corner, Ds's Scooby Doo tree. I think that Thyri will enjoy it. We added Scooby Doo ornaments and other things to it each year, but I gather that ddil doesn't want it at their house.
Oh, and except for the engine (eye roll) I got my father's childhood train set. I have a small HO scale train, but this is a larger Lionel set. There isn't a lot with it, but a few trees and metal people, except for the big, metal, train station. It's perfect. Anyway, I want to put that around the base of the Scooby Doo tree to go around it. That tree will be away from Krypto, so any stuffed Scooby's, and the train will not be in his reach.
And then, a small, kitchen tree. I actually have a countertop tree packed away. And, for years I've collected kitchen themed ornaments for it. A pickle, a cute mouse drinking a shake/malt, and so forth. I don't have enough, but I can continue to find one or so each year. 
I want to put it on the counter that runs along the east wall...once it's installed, right next to the doorway between the kitchen and the living room.
But for now, I'm happy with my one.
