This last week a virus locked up dh's computer and we called the number given for Microsoft....a call that lasted hours, it seemed. They said a charged had been made to our checking account that was for $6,000 for a gambling site and not to use our computers for at least 48 hours. Unable to resist and as their questions got more intrusive, I checked our banking account on my computer, and dh went to the bank. There had been no such withdrawl! I keep checking it and so far no unusual activity, but dh's computer is still locked up. (We finally hung up when they told us to go and purchase $6,000 worth of prepaid cards!!! Eek!
