After a month's worth of flooding rains, it stopped this week, except for Wednesday. What we had since Christmas, was one storm after the other. The news said that there were 12. I believe it. The flip side of the rain stopping, has been the night temperatures going from 50 down to below freezing. It was in the 20's last night...brrrr. Also, we've had a couple of days where fog had been thick until after noon.
They say that it will be crystal clear this weekend and next week. The night temperatures will stay mostly below freezing. The map shows 30-34 but at my place that means 20's-32ish.
We had so much rain this past month, that things are still flooded. The water crossing our road is receding, but other water, such as in the fields, has not, as yet. Remember the photo of Avenue of the Giants? Well, yesterday there were photos posted of someone kayaking through the trees where they would normally be able to drive in a car!
Last Sunday would have been Dd's birthday, so I was not feeling like my usual self. I didn't feel like cleaning, working on projects, listening to music, watching T.V., etc. I have been reading, though.
At least it's a lot quieter since the rain has (mostly) stopped. That month long pounding rain was a little much. And, because it made the hundred some-odd frogs sing, that was even more sound. Right now there's no sound of rain, heavy winds, or frogs. That's nice for a change.
Dh had an accident with his hand. A piece of metal slammed on his finger. It cut both sides of the finger, deeply, to each side of the nail. It took a long time to stop bleeding, and now he's having to wear a protective glove and bandage over it a lot of the time to keep skin in place, and not get anything in it. He opens it to the air when he's just sitting. He's on antibiotics.
In better news, we are beginning to dry out. I may be able to plant something this month, after all. I have a couple of potted herbs to divide and plant, a couple of early seeds, and 3 trees. Hopefully, the trees can be planted while still dormant.
Birds are also starting to come back out, too.
Well, that's about all from here. How was your week?
