The one that I take for my adrenal problem is similar in nature. I can have problems being late for it at all, and start feeling bad if I'm even a few hours late. It's one of those things that will send you to the ER if the adrenal problem flares.
I can only offer 2 ideas for the future.
1 - If something like this ever happens again, and I hope that this was a one-time problem, of course, go to your local hospital each day, and let them administer the medication until his comes.
They do that sometimes for medications that are held up and absolutely necessary, after checking with the Dr.
2 - I know that the medication is expensive, but I would try asking for what's called a 'plus 30.'
That was a term that made it mainstream after hurricane Katrina, when so many people couldn't get their important medications, and then went longer without when they discovered that so many medical records were lost by not being in the cloud via computer. Then, a lot of records were physical, on paper, and lost in the flooding.
The suggestion after that, from FEMA and office of emergency services, was that the citizens should be give one prescription - or a 30 day supply - extra of what they regularly have to take, so that in the event of any disruption of the supply chain - storms, fires, problems at the manufacturing level, etc. people would not become ill, or even die, from lack of their medications.
You can periodically rotate them, to keep the medications fresh.
You just tell the Dr. that you would like to have FEMA's plus-30, and tell him what it is, if he doesn't know. He can then try to see if the insurance company, or whoever helps with the cost, will cover it.
If they don't, but the Dr. will tell the pharmacy that he agrees that Dh cannot go without his medication, you can then consider whether or not you can get it yourself the one time, to avoid possible problems in the future.
Again, I'm so sorry that you had that worry, and am relieved for you both that he now has the pills in hand.
Have a great week.
