In restuarants I also ask for a clean utensile.
As I would not assume I'd automtically have been given a clean utensile.

But in someones home - depending on how many people and what social status I would drop it on floor and if friends would ask for a clean one. Same goes for a glass with lipstick on it, etc. LOLOL!
