We had a ridiculously cold week. High teens to 20ish more than once at night. If it wasn't cold inside, perhaps it would be better.
Then, Thursday night it rained a bit. That raised the temperatures quite a bit. The low that night was 41, which is a 20+ degree difference. But, tonight it's cold again. Darn.
And, speaking of rain, I did my math on the storms that we had from Christmas, and we had just over 30" in a day more than 2 weeks. That explains a few things.
We aren't supposed to have any rain after this Sunday, and the temperatures at night are supposed to stay in the 20's and 30's.
We've spent a few days going through containers, and found some items that I was glad to see. Some postal history covers and stamps, a couple of my small kitchen items, some cloisonne pins that we got in the 80's - Olympic pins, which I collect, plus some misc. ones, and quite a few Lion's Club ones that we got with them in a lot deal. I don't know a lot about the Lion's Club, so if anyone knows someone in the club who would like a couple pins of theirs, let me know. I'm not selling them, I would just be glad for some - there are even multiples of some - of them to get a good home.
Also, I found one of my 2 postcard albums. It's filled with really neat postcards sent to me from people all over the world. I recognized them immediately. It's from when I was doing postcard exchanges. I'd love to do that again one of these days.
Anyway, I did find a few things that I'd been looking for, which was nice.
And...I have my phone back! A tech came out and called me when it was working, but it wouldn't ring more than a quarter of one ring, then hung up. I told him that but he insisted that everything looked fine inside the box, so there was nothing more that he could do.
I knew through Ds that all did *not* look fine inside of the box. He said that he was heading back out of town, and was already driving away!
It just so happened that Ds was here before a job, I don't remember why at the moment. So, when the phone guy reluctantly said that he could come back, I said, "Yes, why don't you do that. Come back. Our son is here and will meet you at the box."
Meanwhile, I was hoping that I could find Dh/Ds who were outside somewhere, before the guy returned in less than 2 minutes! Luckily, I did.
Ds agreed to go down and meet him, and in short order all was perfect with my ringer, etc. Apparently, the man was looking in the *wrong bunker/box.* Sheesh! When he looked in the correct one, he saw what a mess it was.
The man, it turned out, while he'd done this work before, actually works with the transfer lines, not bunkers/boxes. Thank goodness Ds happened to be here, which was a huge coincidence. Or, was it? Hmmmm...
So, hooray for having a phone again!
Krypto is still barking now and then at night. One night, we smelled a skunk, so he's definitely detecting animals that are coming in too close.
Then, on Thurday, after dark, Dh saw a dog-like animal on the hill to our west, which is where the driveway is. He couldn't make out the animal well at all, but it's eyes shined back blue. I don't know what else would, but I have seen blue shine-back eyes, when light hits them, and they were from coyotes. It's been some time since a coyote's been around, but I believe that it's likely that's what was out there.
Tonight, we heard Canadian geese overhead heading north. Krypto is very interested in them.
Well, that's all from this neck of the woods! How was your week?
