He really is very interesing.
A female Queen who is another extremely interesting person is Eleanor of Aquitaine who Married Henry of Anjou, who was a Plantagenet. They had 5 sons and 3 daughters. Two of their sons would be kings of England.
If Richard the 3rd was interesting - Eleanor was fascinating. Her son Richard was known as Richard the Lionheart. King John was the father of Henry III.
Another person of note is John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster a English royal prince, military leader and statesman. Known as the Red Prince. He was the 4th son of King Edward III of England and the father of King Henry 14.
He also makes very interesting reading. 8-)
As he ended up marrying Katherine Swynford his lover. She was his third wife.
The two of them were very important She was one of the most important female figures of the late 14th century as was her partner in adultry and later husband - John of Gaunt Duke of Lancaster, etc. He was one of the most powerful and clebrated figures of Medieval England.
I could go on but I won't. Books on history and even paper pack historical novels of these people can be fascinating. Once you dig out the made up bits of course.
These four royals and those that are not- are extremely interesting. I am so happy to be rereading The Daughter of Time. Now to see if can dig up the other books about the rest of my favorites. I think they are in MN. 8-( Thank goodness for Thriftbooks. 8-)
