This year I cut back on episodes that weren't my favorites. Plus I fell asleep during a handful 8-)
I have been reading my tiny Everyday Zen book. Here is todays saying I opened to.
"One Pure Taste"
The life force that pervades everything
cannot be defined or held on to.
Enjoy it like a mouthful of rain.
This is todays 2/28 meditation from my " 365 Tao -Daily Meditations"
Opportunity
A green bird darting in the night.
Will you be able to see it?
Will you be able to catch it?
Cling to Tao like a shadow.
Move without a shadow.

Times of oppression and adversity cannot last forever. How is the transition made to new and better situations? In the midst of great difficulty, a tiny opportunity will open, if only by chance. You must be sharp enough to discern it, quick enough to catch it, and determined enough to do something with it. If you let it pass, you will be filled with regret.

I wanted to share this as it truly spoke to me. Since I am finally able to live with my newly diagnosed medical issue I am no longer unaware of everyday life.
Which is why I posted the following: This morning when letting Charlie run around in the yard.... I heard a rapping in the trees next door. It wasn't very loud and it took me aware to identify what it was. But the more I listened the less sure I was of what creature I was hearing.
So here are the two creatures that I think may have been making the rapping sounds:
The first thought was that a gray squirrel was trying to open a Pecan nut. There are plenty of nuts around as the squirrels hide them by digging holes in my back yard.
My second choice was that a Woodpecker was in one of the trees. Most of the trees in the yard and in my neighbor's yards are hardwood.
I still haven't made a choice between the two. But I am enjoying remembering the sounds.
Dr Who lets me escape into fantasy. While my reading draws me out into the nature around me as well as paying attention to my inner self.
