Martin Van Buren was the first president to be born a citizen of the United States and not a British subject. Van Buren was born in 1782 in Kinderhook, New York, where most of the residents, including his parents, were of Dutch descent. Growing up in a Dutch-speaking community, Van Buren learned to speak Dutch before English, making him the only U.S. president to not speak English as a first language. He would learn English as a second language while attending the local school.

Dr. Seuss fans might find their hearts growing three sizes this coming holiday season with the release of a sequel to the 1957 classic children's book “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” The new book picks up one year after the original, and like the first, teaches a valuable lesson about the true spirit of the holiday. The sequel entitled “How the Grinch Lost Christmas!” is not based on a newly discovered manuscript by Seuss, but was written and illustrated by an author and artist with previous experience in the Dr. Seuss universe.
