I'm reading a new book, just to myself. It's called, Smugglers & Scones. I can't see the author's name, it's too small on the thumbnail of the cover, but I'll post it when I finish the book.
Pippi lives right across from the coastline in a historical house with her great-uncle, who owns it. The man who owned it before them was a famous writer, and he left it to the great-uncle, the ex-police chief of their small town.
The house is amazing, with tiffany lamps, etc. But, there's a board that makes the decisions for what they can do in and with the house, which is now a B&B. The first thing, as per the original owner's will, is that only mystery writers can rent any of the 10 rooms. They also keep 2 cats, named for the old owner's book characters, and when one passes away, they adopt another.
The place has specialized books for sale, book signings, they make big breakfasts for the guests, but have all of the food places' menus for lunches and dinners, since writers keep odd hours. They have accounts at the restaurants, and go and get the food to keep their guests from starving.
One night a terrible noise awakens everyone. A boats has gone aground, and is sinking. Long story short, Pippi saves the new guy in town who runs the boat and fishing tours for the guy who owns it. There's no mistaking that this is a romantic mystery when something unexpected is found on the ruined boat.
How was your reading week?
